Before I completely lose you at herbal coffee (STAY WITH ME PEOPLE), let me tell you about how much I LOVE COFFEE. I love the smell, the flavor, the fullness, the enerrrrrrgy. What do I NOT love about coffee though? Well, while it smells absolutely divine, it gives me some side effects that are not all great. I personally struggle with anxiety, IF I drink coffee. It comes up other times too, but not near as often if I’m staying away from the beloved roasted beans I love so much. I also crash, and crash HARD when I’ve had a cuppa joe. These things and parenting don’t exactly mesh well, can I get an amen?
There are certainly a lot more reasons I love it than there are for hating it, but those downsides are also something fairly significant to consider. Especially as a mama still in the baby making phase of life, it’s important to me that I am making nutritional choices that support my body instead of make it harder for me to thrive.
Trust me, I get it…that initial burst of energy when you are absolutely exhausted from caring for other humans is like a breathe of fresh air. I can get a whole lot done after that first cup, but the jitters I get with it along with the crash later are clearly doing something to my body that’s a little bit off. Decaf isn’t an option because well, taste first of all, and it doesn’t do a dang thing for exhaustion.
So, what’s a mama to do? Herbal coffees that I have tried in the past have been less than subpar in taste and comparison to coffee. That is, until I came across RASA. When I ordered my sample set, I was definitely hesitant on whether I would like it or not. After all, nothing has my heart like coffee does. But, being pregnant, I really don’t like to make my body (and my baby) dependent on caffeine in the amounts that coffee gives so I had been drinking black teas instead. Black tea has significantly less caffeine, but doesn’t provide any benefits that certain herbs have the ability to do, either. I compromised here, and went with tea for a long while. Insert the RASA samples, and there was a tasty game changer in my house.
RASA meets the needs of coffee lovers everywhere with their “Dirty Rasa” blend of adaptogenic herbs and high quality roasted coffee. It certainly passes my test for earthy boldness that I love about coffee, but comes with LOADS of benefits the herbs provide.

To support you through your days.
Herbalists in China and India discovered the answer more than 5,000 years ago.
Using special combinations of adaptogens — herbs that help your body adapt to stress — these ancient masters cracked the code on stable energy without side effects.
We’ve taken inspiration from these ancient traditions to create Rasa, the only herbal coffee alternatives that offer functional benefits, drawing on Indian, Chinese, & Western herbal wisdom.”-RASA Website
What makes RASA unique?
All of the herbs in RASA products provide a purpose, and together they provide you with sustainable energy that doesn’t deplete your adrenals like coffee does. Codonopsis for vitality, Reishi for relaxation, Rhodiola for endurance, Ashwagandha for calming, Dandelion Root for detoxification, He Shou Wu for longevity, Burdock-Root for purification, Eleuthero for energy, Chaga for immunity, Chicory Root for digestion, Cinnamon for circulation, and Shatavari for nourishment all work together to support your body, rather than deplete it.
My favorite thing about RASA is probably that I don’t have to entirely let go of my beloved cup of joe, but can also reap the benefits of the herbs while enjoying a high quality roasted bean. Quality is everything with them and they check all of my boxes:
- Certified Organic
- Whole30 Approved
- 3rd Party Lab Tested
- Vegan (doesn’t pertain to me as my raw milk I add changes this for sure, but some of my readers might enjoy knowing!)
Is this something I should be drinking while pregnant?
I went with weighing the experience of the founder of RASA, who drank it through her pregnancy(ies?) and didn’t experience any negative consequences. For me, the benefits outweigh the risks with the herbs involved, and a midwife friend mentioned the concentration in teas for herbs is probably one of the lowest you can get so I’m feeling comfortable with the decision to stick with it versus drinking actual coffee throughout my pregnancy.
Which one is the best?
While the Dirty RASA is for sure the winner in my book, the Cacao Brew is a runner up in my book. It tastes great hot or cold, and makes me feel like I’m drinking a fancy chocolate milk when I drink it iced, yum!
Is it easy to brew?
Yes! RASA includes awesome helpful instructions for brewing with each purchase. I have personally found I prefer to steep my RASA in a french press and allow it infuse for 10-15 minutes, then add what I’d like to it and enjoy. It’s fantastic in bulletproof recipes, and that’s how I usually begin my days. Collagen, MCT oil, grass-fed unsalted butter and vanilla all blended up together with my Dirty RASA is absolutely divine first thing in the morning.
Their top four recommended brewing methods include using a French Press, Percolator, Moka Pot, or an Espresso Machine! There are tons of other brewing options, except for a drip coffee machine! I’ve even used my tea infusers with success, too.
